Putting Our Economy Back on the Right Track
We are facing challenging times. Middle class families, small businesses and seniors throughout Queens are finding it increasingly difficult to make ends meet. That is why, Frank Padavan is working to provide the relief hardworking residents and taxpayers deserve and putting our economy back on a path to a prosperity and growth.
As your state Senator, Frank Padavan has developed a proven track record of standing up and getting results. He has worked tirelessly in the state Legislature to develop a long-term alternative and renewable energy policy to reduce our reliance on foreign oil and lower energy prices. Frank Padavan also spearheaded the elimination of the city sales tax on clothing and footwear, the elimination of the state sales tax on home heating fuel and supported measures that have reduced the overwhelming property tax burden placed on middle class families and seniors.
Investing in A First Class Education for NYC Children
Over the years, Frank Padavan has dedicated a tremendous amount of energy to ensuring that New York City schools get the share of state education aid they need to educate our children. In the past two years, alone Frank Padavan delivered an increase of $1.1 billion in education aid for school throughout the City of New York. Working side by side with Mayor Bloomberg, Chancellor Klein and City education leaders, Frank Padavan was one of the chief architects of the $13.1 billion five-year school capital construction plan that will add over 66,000 additional classroom seats and significantly reduce overcrowding in our schools.
In the future, Senator Padavan will continue to fight to ensure New York State keeps its promise and makes the smart investments in New York City schools.
Making Higher Education More Affordable
Queens families and students are finding it increasing difficult to meet the rising cost of a higher education. It is imperative to our future that New York has an affordable higher education system that allows young professionals to have the opportunity for a bright and prosperous future in our state, city and community.
That is why, Frank Padavan is committed to investing in and expanding access to the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) for lower to middle income students, establishing a low cost, low interest student loan program for students who pursue their higher education in New York State and increasing the college tuition deduction New Yorkers can claim on their state taxes.
Protecting Our Quality of Life
Frank Padavan's commitment to ensuring our community remains safe and thrives today and in the future is unmatched. He has strengthened the dream of homeownership by working in a bipartisan effort to enact a comprehensive law that will help at-risk homeowners overcome an impending foreclosure and prevent another foreclosure crisis in the future. He has also improved access to affordable quality health care by fighting back against dangerous cuts to our hospitals and nursing homes. Time and time again, Frank has secured essential funding for community, senior and youth programs and services.
